LOVE: Jorge Negrete

Latinos LOVE Mexican singer and actor, Jorge Negrete, also known as "El Charro Cantor." Jorge Alberto Negrete Moreno is one of the most famous Mexican entertainers to have ever lived. Grenete was born on November 30, 1911 in Guanajuato, Mexico. He was super talented, handsome, and full of Mexican pride! One of his most popular songs to date is "México Lindo y Querido."

He began his career in the 1930s. NBC signed him to sing with other Latin American entertainers. His public appearance was well received leading to him acting in over 40 films, including "La Madrina Del Diablo" (The Devil's Godmother), "Juntos Pero No Revueltos" (Together But Not Mixed) and in "¡Ay, Jalisco, no te Rajes!" (¡Ay Jalisco, Don't Give Up!).

He died of Hepatitis at age 42 on December 5, 1953. Gone, but never forgotten, his fans still pay tribute to him even half a century later after his passing.
